Narrative: Pete Parker has been fly-fishing since he was 5 years old.  His first fish was a California golden trout caught near Yosemite in 1939 on a fly.  He learned to tie flies in 1946 from his father. In 1962, he moved to New York, met Jim Deren at the famed Anglers Roost tackle shop in mid-town Manhattan and began fly-fishing in salt water for Blue Fish and Striped Bass off Long Island. In 1976, he returned west and co-founded the Evergreen Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Pete began giving fly tying demonstrations at local events and in 1989 was asked to appear in his first ISE show as a guest tier. In 1992 he was asked to assume duties as Director of the Fly Tying Video Theater for all ISE shows. Pete blends the talents of approximately 150 fly tiers (nationally recognized tiers, local favorites, and a few newcomers each year) at each ISE show. For the past several years, he has appeared as a fly tier, seminar speaker, and workshop instructor at the regional and national Conclaves for the Federation of Fly Fisherman. Pete has fly fished all over the United States, Alaska, BC, Canada, Belize, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, San Salvador, Mexico, plus blue water trips off Baja, Mexico and Midway Atoll in the mid-pacific. He has 4 IGFA world records and is the current holder of the 12 lb. tippet class for giant trevally caught at Midway Atoll, a 53 lb., 12 oz. giant caught from a stationary boat. His flies have been featured in many books such as Saltwater Flies 700 of the Best, where one pattern recieved the inside cover; Blue Water Flyfishing; Supernaturals; Patterns of the Masters (past three issues); and in Paul Schmookler`s new book (not yet released). In 1998, Pete was selected to be one of the 30 or so top fly tiers to have an entry in Secrets of the Salt Water Fly by F. Stop Fitzgerald. Recent magazines to feature Parker`s flies have been Flyfisherman; Fly Tyer;Flyfisherman (Japanese edition); Gray`s Sporting Journal; California Outdoors; and Fly Fishing in Saltwaters. Although Pete likes to tie unusual, goofy patterns and see if he can catch fish on them, many of his more conventional flies have been placed in the American Museum of Fly Fishing in Vermont, and the National FFF Museum in Livingston, MT. Pete is a contract fly tier for Umpqua Feather Merchants. He is also a pro-staff advisor for several other manufacturers and a guide/ instructor for the Rocky Mountain Orvis schools. He teaches fly tying at various other shops and schools, is a member of Trout Unlimited, Federation of Fly Fishermen, and the Dutch American Association of Fly Tiers. Pete has been married for 48 years to wife Barbara, has 1 son, 2 daughters, and 6 grand children. His Grand Daughter Genna McClure is another featured member of Daiichi`s pro staff.
